Alexandra Elaine – UK’s first Deafblind Doctor

Alexandra Elaine Adams is set to graduate in 2026, completing her medical training at Cardiff University, to become the UK’s first Deafblind doctor. Alexandra, who has less eyesight but more insight than many people, intends to pursue palliative medicine, emphasising dignity, positivity, and patient-centred care. As of 8 March 2026, Alexandra’s memoir is near completion, adding to her portfolio of writing, art, and patient advocacy. Alexandra is the Founder of Pandemic Pianos, a musical project supporting National Health Service (NHS) hospitals in the UK; she is also active in awareness campaigns for disability rights that challenge stereotypes. Alexandra has had to deal with prejudice in the medical training environment. Health challenges have delayed her graduation. With support, Alexandra has continuously balanced her medical studies with activism, demonstrating resilience. Her visibility strengthens calls for inclusive medical education and healthcare systems. Alexandra’s story resonates globally, showing how resilience and advocacy can reshape professional fields.
